MAN OF LETTERS

On 30 May 1919, Rabindranath Tagore wrote to Lord Chelmsford, the British Viceroy, renouncing the Knighthood conferred upon him in protest against the gruesome Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is believed that his personal act of courage captured popular imagination and ignited the Swadeshi movement.

A mind without fear indeed!
