VIBHA BATRA

Vibha Batra is a Chennai based author, graphic novelist, advertising consultant, poet, lyricist, translator, playwright, travel writer, speaker and columnist. She has published 18 books including Pinkoo Shergill Pastry Chef (Scholastic), The Secret Life of Debbie G (Harper Collins) Merry the Elephant’s Rainy Day (Ms Moochie), Bathinda to Bangkok (Bloomsbury), The Reluctant Debutante (Vishwakarma Publications), The Dream Merchants (Juggernaut), Keeping it Real (Readify), Euro Trip (Mango DC books), Ludhiana to London (Juggernaut), Glitter and Gloss (Bloomsbury), The Activist and The Capitalist (Indireads), Sweet Sixteen, Seventeen and Done, Eighteen and Wiser (Penguin), Family Crossword (Lifi Publications), A Twist of Lime (Think Big), Tongue in Cheek (Writers’ Workshop), and Ishaavaasya Upanishad: Knowledge and Action (Rupa).

Her travelogues have appeared in The Hindu, Conde Nast Traveller, Deccan Chronicle, and The Week. Several of her short plays have been staged during the Short and Sweet Theatre Festival South India, and her play, Cold Feet, won the Script of the Week in 2017. Her play, The Social Butterfly, was staged on the occasion of GST Day in Chennai. She has written the Hindi lyrics for Thuppaki and the anthems for leading corporate houses like The Chola Group, Murugappa, Brakes India, GBS India, and Cavin Kare.

She has contributed short stories and poems to the Chicken Soup series, international anthologies, print magazines and ezines. She conducts creative writing workshops for children and adults both independently and at the British Council Chennai. Her Sweet Sixteen trilogy published by Penguin and her graphic novel The Secret Life of Debbie G published by Harper Collins have been optioned for screen adaptation by leading production houses. The Secret Life of Debbie G has been shortlisted for the Neev Book Award and PFC-Vow Award.
