‘The villagers said I was unfortunate. Poor boy, his father’s dead and now his mother’s gone too.’
A Dalit boy in a UP village has few prospects. So when Gopal’s uncle brings him to Mumbai to find a job, Gopal is cast into the unfamiliar world of Squatters Colony, with no family, except Sanjiv Maama, and no friends. He starts working at the bicycle shop run by the kind Chacha, and slowly comes to know the strange and diverse people who live in the colon-Chacha’s friendly daughter-in-law, the neighbourhood thug Raja, the three-legged Tiger, and Aisha, who seems an incarnation of his favourite pari story.
Then disaster strikes and lives fall apart, and Gopal realizes that the people in the gully are his family…
